A Celebration of Home Cooks – A Wholesome Wave Farm-to-Table Benefit at Skylight Farm

Skylight Farm Wholesome Wave Farm-to-Table Benefit

On Sunday, October 26th, visit us at Skylight Farm, and enjoy a seasonal, farm-to-table Wholesome Wave benefit dinner prepared by Kenan Hill of Kitchen 1204.

Oftentimes home cooks don’t receive the praise they deserve. We want to celebrate the determined, kitchen-warriors who work day in and day out to craft delicious, healthy and local meals. This dinner will benefit Wholesome Wave Georgia – an organization that enables more home cooks to create healthy meals by increasing access to fresh, healthy, locally grown food for all Georgians.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., tour Skylight Farm at the historic Glover Family Farm. Get to know Justin and Brittany Aiello, of Skylight Farm, while you explore all of the delicious, fall veggies growing at the farm. Explore the history of the farm and hear Justin share about the practice of land stewardship.

The tour will include drinks and hors d’oeuvres prior to dinner. The hors d’oeuvres will highlight some of the delicious, seasonal preserves offered by the canning and preserving superstars of Preserving Place.

Kenan Hill, an Atlanta-area food blogger, home cook and local-food activist, will prepare a three-course fall feast, highlighting the best that Skylight Farm and local producers have to offer.

So come out to the farm! Support Wholesome Wave GA while enjoying a hearty, autumn meal and a celebrating those wonderful home cooks that we love so much!

Asian Greens

Atlanta Magazine and Georgia Organics Highlight Skylight Farm

In the past two months, we’ve been excited to see our farm highlighted in both Atlanta Magazine, as well as The Daily Dirt: Georgia Organics’ blog.

The Atlanta Magazine feature, “Fall farmers market find: Asian greens,” explains how crazy we are for all the delicious Asian greens that we grow in the fall. Our Farm Manager, Justin, tells Atlanta Magazine about the joys of bok choy, komatsuna and all sorts of other yummy greens!

Georgia Organics recently featured Skylight Farm in their “Friend a Farmer Friday” social media campaign, including a blog post in The Daily Dirt, written by our Marketing Manager, Brittany. “Farm to Friend: On Connecting Food and Faces”  gets at the heart of why we farm – community.

2014 Plant Sales

We’re happy to announce that we are now taking plant orders for the summer. Below, you will find a link to a list of the organically grown seedlings we are offering this year as well as the prices. All plants will come in organic, bio-degradable peat pots…all you have to do is put them in the ground! Some of the plants are growing right now, and some will be planted to order… so please allow time for your plants to be ready. Plants will be ready in time for summer planting in mid-April and available into June.

To order: Open the link to the list of available plants, chose the plants and quantities you want, e-mail your order to info@skylightfarm.com and I will get back to you with a confirmation and an estimated time the plants will be ready. Remember, these are plants for the summer growing season and will not be ready until it’s time to plant for the summer.
